A Colorful Emmys Red Carpet

I was debating whether I should post about the Emmys since so many people do it but the color was too hard to resist.  I think this was the best dressed red carpet I've seen in a while too.  Yellow was the lucky color and everyone who wore it won an Emmy including Julianne Moore above in Dior Couture.  It was actually a cashmere sweater tucked into a ball skirt that looked amazing against her red hair.

Not everyone loved Claire Danes' yellow Lanvin dress but I thought it looked flattering on the mom to be.

Julie Bowen looked amazing in chartreuse Monique Lhullier.

Allison Williams of Girls looked gorgeous in green Oscar de la Renta.

There were mixed reviews for Julianna Margulies' garden printed Giambattista Valli but I thought it was beautiful.

I also liked Elisabeth Moss's floral Dolce & Gabbana dress and her fabulous new hair color.

This is the best Heidi Klum has ever looked but just wish she hadn't done the Angelina leg thing.

This electric blue Pamela Roland was a great color for Jane Levy.

Let's ignore the hair on Ashley Judd and focus on the pretty plum shade of her Carolina Herrera dress.

Orangy red was another popular shade and this Andrew Gn gown looked great on Cat Deeley.

Jessica Lange wowed in this orange J. Mendel.

I also loved this orange Monique Lhullier gown on Padma Lakshmi.

Ginnifer Goodwin is always fashion forward and this Monique Lhullier dress has her on many best dressed lists.

We should all age as gracefully as Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Vera Wang.

I also thought this was the best Tina Fey has ever looked in Vivienne Westwood which is usually not a red carpet choice of designers.

Kerry Washington also wowed in Vivienne Westwood and is definitely one of my best dressed of the night.

I loved the chic simplicity of Jessica Pare's black and white look from Jason Wu.

Could Kiernan Shipka be any cuter?!  Her custom Zac Posen is perfectly age appropriate for the young actress.

Grey was another popular shade and I loved Emily VanCamp's J. Mendel gown.

Connie Britton also loved lovely in grey by Andrew Gn.

Jane Krakowski was another who looked chic in grey by Kaufman Franco.

After seeing the Reem Acra runway show during fashion week, I can see why Sarah Paulson chose one of her dresses.  It's ethereal.

I joked last night that Amy Poehler is going to whether her divorce just fine.  She looked amazing in Stella McCartney.

I thought this was the best Melissa McCartney has looked on the red carpet. She was beautiful in black and might have designed her dress since a designer wasn't listed online.

Not everyone liked Lena Dunham's Prada look but she is also one of my best dressed.  I think she looks absolutely gorgeous with her new haircut.  In a sea of strapless dresses, her sleeves look very chic.

Alec Baldwin and his new wife Hilaria Thomas color coordinated which I thought was sweet.

Jonn Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt looked lovely together too.

Homeland winner Damian Lewis.

Aziz Ansari looked dapper.

Jimmy Fallon clowning around in Lanvin.

Oscars 2012 Best Dressed

It was a bit of a boring show but the Oscars didn't disappoint in the fashion department.  I knew Meryl Streep was taking home the Oscar statuette when she showed up in a glittering gold Lanvin dress above.  It was a perfect match but there were a few other lovely ladies who get my vote for best dressed.

Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Help and looked absolutely gorgeous in Tadashi Shoji.  The beading and draping could not be more perfect.

Absolute best dressed goes to Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford.  It was cold in Los Angeles and the cape/coat was the perfect touch.  She removed it for the ceremony and after parties and still looked like perfection.

Not everyone liked this Valentino dress on Shailene Woodley from The Descendants but how many strapless dresses can you see without being bored.  I thought the sleeves were lovely.

I'm not a fan of Milla Jovovich but I loved her white sparkly Elie Saab gown.

I thought Rooney Mara looked like a bored teenager on the red carpet.  Would it kill her to smile once on a while?  The Givenchy dress is "high fashion" and interesting but I wish they could do something with her hair.

Her sister Kate Mara on the other hand looked beautiful in this pale pink Jack Guisso dress.

Not everyone on twitter liked Emma Stone's red Giambattista Valli dress but I thought she looked pretty.  She's also such a fun breath of fresh air that I would like her in anything.

I'm not a fan of peplums but the red Louis Vuitton dress worked on Michelle Williams.

I couldn't cover the Oscars without a gratuitous photo of Colin Firth.  I just love that Mr. Darcy.

Christopher Plummer won for his role in Beginners and if you haven't seen it, watch it tonight.  You will laugh and cry and realize why he won. Such a class act.

I have no idea what film Gary Oldman was nominated for but thought he looked very dapper in Paul Smith.

I didn't love Bernice Bejo's braided hair but her seafoam green dress was beautiful.  She also has the handsome director of The Artist, Michel Hazanavicius, who won for Best Director last night.

The Artist won many awards including Best Actor for Jean Dujardin.

If you missed Sean "P.Diddy" Combs get out of his car and have his jacket lint rolled by a personal lint roller assistant, you missed the best moment of the night on the red carpet.  He also won an Oscar as a producer on The Undefeated.  I still think I'm a little more jealous of the lint rolling assistant than the Oscar.

I only saw Tom Hanks on TV but he just keeps looking better and better.

Chris Rock and his fabulous hair should have hosted the show.

Rose Byrne looks like she needs to eat a cheeseburger or twelve but everyone was unanimous in their love for her hair.

I didn't see Anna Faris until this morning but think she looks amazing in her black sequined Diane von Furstenberg dress.

Busy Phillips is Michelle Williams's best friend and accompanies her on every red carpet.  I liked her lace Dolce & Gabbana gown with a peep of lilac shoes.

Tina Fey also looked lovely in her navy blue Carolina Herrera gown.

I'm not sure what Leslie Mann does for a workout but I am going to find out and then do it.  She always looks amazing.

Not everyone loved Sandra Bullocks' Marchesa two-tone gown but I didn't mind it.  She looked pretty but maybe should lay off the Botox for a little while.

Reviews were also mixed on Jessica Chastain's Alexander McQueen gold embroidered gown but she seemed to be having so much fun with her Nana on the red carpet that I can't fault her.

Jennifer Lopez changed out of one plunging neckline gown and into another for the Vanity Fair Oscar after party. I guess that's what having a young boyfriend does.

I love the yellow color that Rashida Jones wore to Vanity Fair.  Gorgeous!

Cameron Diaz changed into this Victoria Beckham dress for Vanity Fair and it seemed to compliment her beachy surfer girl hair a little better than her first dress.

Salma Hayek also looked lovely in red.

Emma Stone changed into black peek-a-boo Chanel for Vanity Fair.

Only Sofia Coppola could get away with a jumpsuit.

I loved Felicity Jones black leather looking gown too.

Not sure for what film Bradley Cooper has grown a mustache but I'm not gonna lie.  It's a little bit sexy.

How could I not end on a cute note with Uggie, the dog from The Artist with Jean Dujardin.

Fini.
