What's Black & White and Red All Over?

What's black and white and red all over?  It's interior designer Alexa Hampton's space in the Hickory Chair showroom in High Point.  She wanted to do something bold that was classic and modern at the same time and she got it.  I especially love the tape and upholstery tack detail along the walls and neoclassical elements throughout the room.  I also love Alexa's fabulous sense of humor. She definitely helps perk you up when you're exhausted during Market.

I also want to apologize for my lack of posts yesterday.  I'm still very under the weather but hope to get caught up with work, emails, and the blog over the next few days.

Bon Weekend!

Hable at Hickory Chair

The best part of High Point is getting to meet many of the designers in person.  Sisters Susan Hable Smith and Katherine Hable Sweeney of Hable Construction have collaborated on a fabric line for Hickory Chair and created a little artist's studio in the showroom. Not only do I love their fabric designers but their amazing mood boards that were also located as soon as you walked in the front door.

Loved Susan's cute cat shoes from Divia

Susan was really painting when we stopped by the showroom.

I loved this painterly watercolor pattern she created this season.

Susan's artwork also hangs on the wall.

Loved the new polka dot Hable fabric on these campaign chairs.

The zebra print isn't by Hable but looks great as pillows and on the chair below.  I definitely wanted to take that one home with me!

Green Acres

Last April at High Point Market, it was 90 degrees and we were all sweating to death.  This April, it was cold and rainy so we were all shivering.  This is part of the reason that I didn't make it to as many showrooms as usual. But I did see a lot of great things including a lot of green.  Wesley Hall above and below painted some of their walls a bright Kelly green perfect for spring.

I love the navy and white against the green walls.

I really need to use this idea in a project.

This malachite painted dresser at Century Furniture had me at hello.

As did this malachite and Lucite side table at Century

Susan Hable was inspired by green at Hickory Chair

The green Chin Hua bar at Century Furniture was the talk of the town.

I love the mirrored interior with drawers for cocktail napkins and accessories.

This green dresser at Aquarius from Lexington Home Brands is the perfect size for New York apartments.

Chartreuse green with white piping and buttons made me want to take these chairs home from Thibaut's new upholstery collection.

This is a terrible photo but this chartreuse velvet sofa at Hickory Chair was beyond chic.  Makes me want to redecorate.  I wonder if Pantone noticed all the green too.  Might be a contender for the color of 2013.
