Lovely in Lonny

I'm knee deep in preparations (styling, cleaning, hiding magazines) for a photo shoot in my apartment Friday.  That is definitely the reason for lighter posts this week. If you need something more to read, I highly suggest heading over to Lonny magazine to read the October issue.  It's chock full of fabulous interiors including this one from the Hotel du Marc in Reims, France which serves as a guest house for Veuve Clicquot.  When I'm done with my photo shoot, I'm going to see if they have any vacancy!

Farewell, My Queen

This weekend is going to be French filled for me.  Opening Friday is the new film Farewell, My Queen (Les Adieux à la Reine) by by Benoît Jacquot and based on the novel Farewell, My Queen by Chantal Thomas. It gives a fictional account of the last days of Marie Antoinette through the eyes a young servant who read to the queen and refused to leave her side. The film stars Diane Kruger as Marie AntoinetteLéa Seydoux as the servant, and Virginie Ledoyen as the duchesse de Polignac. Like Sofia Coppola's film Marie Antoinette, it too was filmed at Versailles and is full of elaborate costumes which should make for a visual feast.

The limited release of the film is perfectly timed to coincide with Bastille Day which is 14 July.  I look forward to stopping by the Bastille Day festivities on East 60th Street on Sunday, 15 July (12:00-5:00pm) that are hosted by the French Institute Alliance Française.    It should be a fun afternoon filled with pétanque, crêpescanelés,  fromages, and hopefully some macarons!

Vive la France!

Revisiting Versailles

All the talk about the Chanel Resort 2013 show at Versailles had me thinking back to my last visit to the palace. While I posted photos of Le Petit Trianon and the grounds, I never posted any photos from the interior of Versailles itself.  These images are from The King's Interior Apartments and The Royal Chapel that you see on the guided tour.  They definitely make me want to make another trip now that I have my better camera. Perhaps I should adopt the attitude, "après moi, le déluge" and just go.
